Free 7-Day Budget Dinner Meal Plan + Shopping List

It is 5:15 on a Wednesday. The fridge is open, the kids are hungry, and I am staring at half an onion and a package of tortillas like they are going to tell me what to make. If that is your evening too, you already know what happens next: takeout, $48 gone, and everybody still a little disappointed.

I am Jess, a mom of three, and I have fed my family on a tight grocery budget for years. The single biggest thing that changed our spending was not a coupon app or a special store. It was knowing, before I walked into the grocery store, exactly what we were eating all week.

So I wrote it all down for you. This free plan gives you seven real dinners that share ingredients on purpose, and one shopping list that is already added up and sorted by store section so you walk the aisles once and leave.

What is inside the plan

It is a 10 page printable PDF. Every dinner gets its own page with the serving size, prep and cook time, an ingredient list with real quantities, a numbered method, the cost per serving written in plain words, and one money-saving tip. The last page is the shopping list, grouped by meat, produce, dairy, canned goods, dry goods and frozen, with a pantry check at the bottom so you do not buy cumin you already own.

The dinners are built to talk to each other. Thursday's pot of rice becomes Friday's fried rice. Monday's extra ground beef turns into Saturday's chili. A single block of cheddar and a single tub of sour cream cover three different nights. That is how the whole week lands around $70 to $78 for a family of five or six, and I want to be honest that those are estimates at budget-store prices, so your total will shift with your region and your store.

Three dinners from the plan

  • Cheesy Beef and Macaroni Skillet: $1.30 per serving
  • Black Bean and Rice Burrito Bowls: $1.10 per serving
  • Baked Potato Chili Bar: $1.60 per serving

None of them need special equipment. One is a slow cooker soup, one is a skillet, and the baked potato bar is the one my kids ask for by name.

How I use it

I print the shopping list on Saturday morning, cross out whatever is already in my pantry, and shop once. Then I tape the week at a glance to the fridge door. When someone asks what is for dinner, the answer is already there, and that alone has saved me more than any coupon.

You do not have to cook the dinners in order. Swap days around to fit your schedule. If you only want to try three of them, grab those ingredients and skip the rest of the list.
